OW_LinkBenedict XVI Angelus 12 .2.2012 APPEAL
I am following the dramatic and escalating violent events in Syria with great apprehension. During these last days there have been many victims. In my prayers, I remember the victims (among them even children), the wounded and all those who are suffering the consequences of a conflict which is becoming always more preoccupying. I would like to renew a pressing appeal for an end to violence and blood-shed. Finally, I would like to invite all - especially Political Leaders in Syria - to work in favour of dialogue, reconciliation and peace. The legitimate aspirations of the different National components, as well as the hopes of the International Community, preoccupied about the common good of the whole of society and of the Region, should be taken into consideration.
